Whether you’re a low maintenance gal or just looking for more hours in the day, we have a fool-proof plan to help with your morning routine. Spend less time getting ready in the morning, yet look amazing. Make people think you spent hours primping, then surprise them with the truth! (And send them our way, while you’re at it!)
Claire has always been low maintenance. Emma never used to be, but four kids and a fully rehabbed farmhouse later, she has no choice but to get ready, and fast. Together they have learned some tricks to making it out of the house, or just starting the day, looking put together.
The following is our 30 minute morning routine, give or take. We’ve included some product name drops and some affiliate links – this just means that we love it enough to recommend to others. If you choose to purchase that item using our link, we receive a small compensation. It’s a win-win!
Shower – 5 Minutes
We keep our showers to about 5 minutes. No, this isn’t by choice. One word: KIDS. We’re lucky if we make it to five minutes without the curtain being thrown back, an argument erupting just outside the door, or our favorite: the phantom cry. Ever get in the shower and think you hear one of the kids or the baby screaming? Yeah, apparently it’s a thing, and it’s SO true! Happens to us – Every. Single. Time!
So to maximize the limited shower time that is inevitable, we’ve developed a couple of tricks and time hacks:
- Intuition Razors – these bad boys are the razor and shave lotion in one. Hello, efficiency! We like the sensitive skin version, and Claire even has the refills setup on Subscribe & Save. Again, one less thing to remember to add to another list somewhere. Just make sure to toss the razor refill frequently – dull razors are the #1 cause of nicks and razor bumps! Our rule of thumb: replace after using about 2/3 of the lotion bar.
- Shower Lotion – another great tip for saving time and multi-tasking while in the shower. We love Arbonne’s Aromassentials Awaken sea salt shower scrub because it serves a dual purpose: exfoliation (salt) and hydration (luxurious oils like safflower and avocado). It also has a divine lemony scent that really does awaken the senses.
Hair – 10 Minutes
Fast and super cute hair starts with a great cut. Find a stylist you trust that can help guide you to the best hair for your lifestyle, face shape, etc. Then be sure to go back regularly! Everyone is a little different, but most ladies need to visit the salon just about every six weeks. While you’re there, pamper yourself a little with a mani/pedi, and maybe even a facial or massage! After all, if you’re anything like us, you probably don’t get enough “you time”.
Next up, dry shampoo. Regardless of the abbreviated shower time, hair shouldn’t be washed every day. It strips all the natural oils, leads to soapy build-up, and increases damage caused by drying. Instead, give dry shampoo a try. It works to absorb excess oil (so there, if your immediate reaction was that your hair is too oily to not shampoo every day), and adds volume. We find that it’s just a great all around styling product, too. So again, two birds one stone. Love it!
Makeup – 5 Minutes
For everyday makeup, our morning routine is simple: CC cream, mascara, bronzer, and lip gloss. (If there wasn’t enough sleep the night before, maybe some under eye concealer, too.) Keep it simple, keep it fresh. The CC cream alone is a multi-tasking genius, evening out skin tone and smoothing wrinkles. Accentuate the eyes with mascara and the lips with gloss, add a glow with bronzer. As an esthetician, Emma could blog on this topic alone for hours. More to follow…
Look Fabulous – 5-10 Minutes
We’re LuLaRoe retailers. We started (and stayed in) this business because we love every single thing about it. Mostly though, we love the quality, ease, and versatility of the clothing. One brand with enough styles to offer a multitude of outfit combinations to fit every occasion? Never again needing to visit countless stores, sifting for hours through endless racks of clothes, feeling defeated by the fitting room? Knowing how each design fits your body, and exactly how to style them and pair into outfits? Honestly, it’s a no-brainer for anyone that wants to look good. The ease and versatility are just gravy.
To give you an example of how easy it is with LuLaRoe in your morning routine, let’s go through each of our outfits shown here:
Claire (left) is wearing a Julia dress, cinched at her natural waist on the underside of the fabric with a hair tie. She layered a brand new Shirley over top, demonstrating the most basic rules of pattern mixing: stripes (a neutral pattern) and a floral, with the red color tying them together perfectly. To finish the look, she added some chunky jewelry and threw on a hat (she didn’t have those 10 minutes for hair) and Roman sandals. The whole thing took about 6-7 minutes.
Emma (right) is wearing an Amelia dress backwards. She paired it with a long necklace and adorable Toms for a pop of pink color to offset the black and white. This look took all of 3 minutes.
